1. The discipline overview and research direction
Jiangsu University Optical Engineering 2003 master's degree awarded. Disciplines mainly in photonics, optoelectronic devices, the basic theory of light and material interaction and application as the main research object, in-depth systematic study.
At present, the discipline has an interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary academic team. Subject members are composed of teaching and research personnel with mechanical, physical, optical, material, test control and other knowledge background, engaged in theoretical research in optical engineering, applied basic research, applied research, engineering research and development and achievement transformation. Disciplines initially formed the backbone of the 60's, the 70's as the backbone, the 1980s as a new force talent echelon. This subject currently has 14 full-time teachers, 5 professors, 6 associate professors and 3 lecturers, including 2 PhD supervisors and 11 Master supervisors. In addition there are 6 part-time teachers (including 4 professors, 2 associate professors). Has Jiangsu Province, "333 Project" training objects, the six peak talent, Jiangsu Province, colleges and universities "Blue Project" training object, the national award-winning doctoral dissertation award winner. Academic team members cross the background of knowledge, inspire the active academic thinking, and promote the research and development of cross-integration.
The main research directions of this discipline include:
l Modern optical devices and system design: Mainly engaged in optical fiber and systems, micro-nano-photonics, solid-state laser devices, optical sensors, imaging and non-imaging optical system design and characteristics of research.
l Optoelectronic Testing Technology and Information Processing: It is mainly engaged in the research of photoelectric detection in transient process, detection of photoacoustic and photothermal effect and its application, image information processing technology and so on.
l Laser processing technology and application: Mainly engaged in the basic theory of light and material interaction, laser micro-texture, laser impact, laser ablation surface micro-processing and so on.
2. Training objectives
In order to meet the needs of our country's socialist construction and to cultivate advanced specialized talents with all-round development in moral, intellectual and physical capacities, the Master's students in this discipline are required to achieve the following objectives:
(a). To master the Marxist theory well, have a correct outlook on life, values and world outlook, uphold the four cardinal principles, uphold the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and support the socialist system; observe laws and abide by the law, be virtuous, have a good style of study, and work in unity and cooperation, has a strong sense of dedication and pioneering spirit, and actively serve the socialist modernization.
(b). Master the basic theoretical knowledge and basic experimental skills of a solid optical engineering discipline, understand the research trends in this field, have a strong sense of innovation and lifelong learning ability, have new scientific and technical expertise, researching and independently engaging in specialized technical work, proficient in a foreign language, capable of teaching, scientific research, engineering and technical development and organization and management of institutions of higher learning, research institutes and related industrial departments.

3. The length of study and training methods

3. Training methods
(1) The full-time postgraduate management mode is adopted to implement the training mode that is mainly based on school learning and supplemented by off-campus teaching practice.
(2) The instructor-led system.
Under the guidance of tutors, students are fully responsible for formulating postgraduate training programs, guiding scientific research, teaching or professional practice, and dissertations. They also guide, demonstrate and supervise postgraduate moral and academic ethics.
(3) During the period of postgraduate study, the total credits of the course should be no less than 30 credits, of which no less than 14 credits are required for the degree program; the required links such as literature reading and academic activities are completed; the practical link is completed; the dissertation defense is passed and the school Upon review and approval by the degree assessment committee, the full-time academic master's degree certificate and diploma may be awarded to Jiangsu University.

5. Practice credit requirements

7. Dissertations
1. Opening report
Before writing a dissertation, a graduate student must go through a careful investigation and study, consult a large amount of literature, especially foreign literature, master the development trend and trend of the research direction, and on this basis, determine the subject of the dissertation, . The opening report should address the key issues of the dissertation selection, research programs, expected goals and achievements, work plans and other issues.

3. Dissertation writing

8. The practice process and requirements
1． Academic events
Graduate students must participate in the school organization "academic ethics seminar" and well-known domestic and foreign experts and scholars seminars, academic reports, graduate forums and other academic seminars to participate in academic activities must form a complete summary of the academic report. Master students should attend more than 10 academic reports (0.2 points / each time) during their study. Academic activities are assessed by subject or mentor. At the same time, in order to broaden the academic horizons of postgraduates and encourage postgraduates to attend international conferences or national high-level academic conferences during their studies, they also read their academic papers and exchange speeches at the conference. To participate in international conferences to read my academic papers, 2 credits / time; to attend domestic and international academic conferences or domestic high-level academic conference, and read my academic papers at the conference, 1 credit / time.
2. Literature reading
The graduate student should read at least 40 English articles relevant to this subject or the instructor before graduation, and develop the ability of graduate students to study academic documents and acquire self-knowledge. 4. Practice session
Academic master students (except working personnel) must carry out the practical process of not less than 1 month during the school period, which can be the practice of teaching in school or the production practice outside the school.
Teaching Practice in School: Under the guidance of supervisors, graduate students should attend teaching practice activities, instruct their undergraduates to experiment, and change experiment reports or assignments. Mentors are responsible for assessment, assessment of qualified people receive 1 credit.
Off-campus professional production practice: postgraduate students contact the production practice unit or postgraduate student by the supervisor, go to the counterpart production practice unit with the consent of the supervisor, and the production practice unit receives and appoints a practical unit instructor. Before the practice, the graduate student must make detailed practical plan and practice goal under the joint guidance of the instructors inside and outside the school. In general, a Master’s student is required to have a research proposal and a plan of study accepted by his or her Graduate Advisory Committee by the end of the second semester of study. A list of completed courses and those proposed to meet school requirements should also be prepared. A meeting of the Advisory Committee should be convened by the student to discuss his/her proposal and course work.
Every graduate student is required to publish at least one research paper in a relevant INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL prior to being eligible to apply a dissertation defense. The thesis must demonstrate a mastery of research techniques, ability to perform original and independent research, and skill in formulating conclusions that enlarge upon or modify accepted ideas.
The above achievements are required to be with the first affiliation of Jiangsu University.
