The opening of a thesis is the first step in the process of postgraduate training. Before writing a dissertation, graduate students must go through a serious investigation and study, consult a large number of literature, especially foreign literature, understand the history and current situation of their research direction, determine the research topic of the dissertation on this basis, and make a thesis opening report. According to the relevant regulations on postgraduate training of Jiangsu University and the relevant requirements of the postgraduate training program of our college, the college decides to implement the collective opening of master's degree thesis of our college, which is organized by the college according to the system. The specific requirements are as follows:

1. According to the catalogue of major classic works and professional academic journals of each discipline (see the training plan of each discipline), graduate students must read more than 20 classic works or foreign documents, and complete the translation of more than 2 English documents. Before the commencement of the thesis, the tutor shall assess the postgraduate literature reading and record the results. Those who fail to pass the examination shall not enter the commencement of the thesis. The academic papers published in English journals by the first author or the second author (tutor first) and collected by EI / SCI can be regarded as qualified in reading foreign literature.

2. After students write a written opening report and submit it to their tutors for approval, they can upload it to the "graduate information management system". In the system, the tutor's approval and the college's approval are required before the opening.

3. Before October 31, the relevant contents such as document reading and opening application must be completed in the graduate management system and reviewed by the tutor. On October 31, the college exported the list of students who completed the document reading and opening application in the system and publicized it on the website of the College of mechanical engineering. Students who have not been publicized are not allowed to participate in this opening.

3. Set up the opening expert assessment group with the Department as the unit (each expert assessment group is composed of at least 5 experts, including at least 1 enterprise expert for professional degree). Departments with more students can be divided into groups, and each group shall determine a person in charge to preside over the opening assessment. The scores of the opening questions shall be assessed by the expert assessment group. See the attachment for the scoring standards. No less than 10% postgraduates in each group are determined to be suspended according to the ranking of thesis opening results. After the assessment, the assessment results will be published on the website of the College of mechanical engineering. Students who are suspended from passing the examination shall be asked to open the second examination. The time interval between the two examinations shall not be less than 3 months. Those who fail to pass both examinations shall be deemed to have dropped out of school.

4. Opening time and place: the opening time of each department is from November 11 to 17 of this semester. At the end of October, the college will export the list of students participating in the opening questions from the system and then group them, and publicize the situation, time and place of the opening questions on the website of the college.

5. Please print out 5 copies of the assessment form for thesis opening (see the attachment) before the opening, and ask the tutor to sign it and take it to the opening site. Please submit one copy of the assessment scoring form for dissertation opening and the expert opinion and signature form for postgraduate dissertation opening (derived from the graduate management system) to the opening expert.

The college shall be responsible for the interpretation of the outstanding issues.
