To further implement the national initiative encouraging universities to visit enterprises and expand employment opportunities, strengthen the integration of career development education and student financial assistance, and enhance the effectiveness of intellectual and motivational support, the School of Mechanical Engineering at Jiangsu University organized a special career guidance event on July 10. Under the leadership of the Jiangsu University Student Party Committee and with the support of the “Yiyou” Science and Technology Innovation Platform for Party Building and Ideological and Political Education, faculty and student representatives visited Danieli Metallurgical Equipment Co., Ltd. The event aimed to broaden students' employment opportunities, clarify their career development paths, and promote personal growth through knowledge and encouragement. The delegation was led by Ye Xin, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office of the School of Mechanical Engineering, and Wang Xianliang, a student counselor, with students from the school's residential college participating.
At the beginning of the event, the head of Danieli Group's safety department delivered a presentation on the company's safety culture and production regulations. Drawing on the characteristics of the metallurgical equipment industry and typical industrial cases, the presentation emphasized the importance of maintaining strict safety standards and strengthened participants' awareness of workplace safety. Subsequently, guided by the company's technical specialists, faculty and student representatives toured the production workshops, assembly facilities, product exhibition areas, and key production lines. Company staff provided detailed introductions to the company's development history, core technological strengths, industrial operations, and emerging industry trends. Particular attention was given to the essential processes involved in the design and development, precision machining, and intelligent assembly of advanced metallurgical machinery, as well as the company's innovative achievements in green and low-carbon metallurgy and intelligent equipment technologies. Throughout the visit, participants gained firsthand experience of the production practices, rigorous technical and quality management systems, and strong culture of technological innovation within a manufacturing enterprise. The visit also provided students with a clearer understanding of the applications of mechanical engineering in advanced equipment manufacturing, the professional competencies required by employers, and the industry's development prospects. These experiences helped students overcome limitations in their understanding of career opportunities and reinforced the importance of their academic and professional preparation.

Following the company tour, Chen Zhenqiao, Technical Director of the company, and Pan Yu, an outstanding alumnus of the school, participated in a discussion session with faculty and student representatives. During the discussion, Chen provided an in-depth overview of developments in the metallurgical equipment industry and explained the design principles and technological evolution of key equipment used in continuous casting and steel rolling. He also addressed students' questions concerning professional skill development, internship and employment opportunities, career planning, and adaptation to workplace environments.

Drawing on his educational background, job-seeking experiences, and professional development, Pan Yu shared his journey from university student to engineering professional. Reflecting on his personal experiences and efforts, he encouraged students to recognize areas for improvement, strengthen their professional expertise, develop independence and resilience, and pursue their aspirations through perseverance and hard work.

At the conclusion of the event, Ye Xin expressed gratitude to Danieli for its warm invitation and hospitality on behalf of the School of Mechanical Engineering. Ye also briefly introduced the school's development, distinctive approaches to talent cultivation, scientific research achievements, graduate profile, and employment initiatives. Ye emphasized that the event represented an important practical step in advancing the school's integrated educational approach, which combines career development guidance with financial assistance and student support. Students were encouraged to use the visit as an opportunity to understand industry expectations, identify areas for personal improvement, deepen their professional knowledge, maintain a determined and enterprising attitude, adapt proactively to evolving industry needs, and enhance their competitiveness in the job market.

The School of Mechanical Engineering has consistently adhered to a student-centered approach, with particular attention to students from financially disadvantaged families and those requiring additional employment assistance. By integrating financial support, academic guidance, career assistance, and values-based education, the school not only addresses students' practical difficulties through targeted financial aid but also emphasizes intellectual development, personal motivation, and capacity building. Through visits to leading enterprises, engagement with industry resources, and support from alumni, the school helps financially assisted students broaden their understanding of industries, build confidence in their career prospects, and develop perseverance and a strong work ethic. In doing so, the school seeks to extend financial assistance beyond material support to encompass psychological encouragement, skills development, and employment support, empowering students to achieve academic and personal success, secure high-quality employment, and pursue well-rounded development.
