On September 9th, the Mechanical College held a mental health education lecture in the auditorium of Jiangsu University. The lecture was led by Ms. Wu Ting, Deputy Director of the University's Mental Health Education Center, and attended by all freshmen of the class of 2024 from the college. The lecture was hosted by Mr. Yu Weijie, Deputy Secretary of the college's Youth League Committee.
First, Wu Ting started the discussion by focusing on the adjustment process during the college years, leading into an in-depth exploration of students' understanding and experience of happiness. Subsequently, Wu Ting provided detailed explanations to the graduate students on aspects such as self-identity establishment, mental health, interpersonal relationships, and relationship issues. She reinforced her points using real-life cases, further elaborating on the challenges faced in adapting to the initial phases of graduate life, the pressures of research, the mentor-student relationship, relationship issues, and more. She provided specific strategies and advice, encouraging students to learn self-regulation, maintain a positive and optimistic mindset in the face of new environments and challenges, and to let their minds be their strongest support. Finally, Wu Ting introduced the methods of psychological health consultation available at the university and within Jiangsu province, encouraging students to seek consultation from the psychological counseling center when faced with psychological issues.
The lecture not only offered freshmen practical psychological adaptation skills but also ignited their enthusiasm and anticipation for future academic and personal development. The college will continue to strengthen its efforts in mental health education, ensuring a supportive environment for students' academic and personal growth.
