On March 17, 2023, the Graduate Association of the School of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with the Craftsmanship Dream Club, successfully held a special seminar on the subject competition with the theme of "Learning for Knowledge, Acting with Diligence to Innovate" in the report hall on the seventh floor of the Mechanical Building. The guests of this event invited outstanding guidance teacher Ye Xin from the discipline competition, as well as four outstanding graduate students, Zhang Yu, Wang Huajia, Fang Guanghui, and Cheng Li, who have achieved excellent results in major discipline competitions, to exchange and discuss with their classmates. More than 80 graduate students from the college participated in the event.

Ye Xin introduced the categories of subject competitions, entry precautions, and specific requirements for subject competitions in graduate training programs, emphasizing the importance of subject competitions for personal ability improvement and future career development; From the perspective of the contestants, Zhang Yu presented the real defense scene of the National 3D Digital Innovation Design Competition, and then pointed out the numerous benefits of subject competitions for the development of graduate students, and strongly recommended that students participate in them; Wang Huajia interpreted specific competitions, guided students to sort out the competition stages and key points, and guided students to grasp the balance between competition and scientific research by sharing the psychological changes during the process from provincial to national competitions; Fang Guanghui showcased the highlights of the award-winning works and listed the commonly used website addresses in subject competitions, encouraging students to take on challenges and participate in subject competitions as team captains to comprehensively enhance their personal abilities; Cheng Li emphasized the mathematical modeling competition and put forward relevant suggestions in the early stages of team building and training. At the same time, he used his rich experience in employment choices to discuss subject competitions and career development with his classmates. At the end of the event, the Academic International Department of the Institute Research Association provided an online platform for students to form teams for subject competition intentions. By matching individual research directions with intention competitions, the competition team was formed to facilitate subsequent registration and participation.
This special seminar helpd students to comprehensively and systematically understand the content and requirements of various subject competitions. Through a detailed review of the preparation process for competition works, it helped students enhance their confidence, stimulated their enthusiasm for participating in subject competitions, and played a positive role in improving the innovation and entrepreneurship abilities of graduate students.
