On September 15, the College of Mechanical Engineering held the "First Course of Scientific Research" for 2022 graduate students in the report hall on the seventh floor by combining online and offline. The Dean Lu Jinzhong, Professor Zhang Chaoyang, Professor Hu Xinghao and Professor Pu Chenwei gave lectures, and the Vice Dean Zhang Zhongqiang presided over.
President Lu Jinzhong introduced the history and background of the College of Mechanical Engineering, the development of various disciplines of the College, the characteristic research direction, the achievements of the College, and said that the College of Mechanical Engineering has a long history of running a school and profound historical deposits. He hoped that the graduate students could grow and become talents on the college platform and jointly promote the development of the College. Later, President Lu made a report entitled "Great Power, Great Machinery, Brilliance". Combining his own learning and scientific research experience, he sent a message to 2022 graduate students: be brave to try and be an ideal, responsible and warm person!
Professor Zhang Chaoyang shared his research career academic planning, scientific quality training, scientific research and other aspects, provided new ideas for carrying out postgraduate life, and interestingly shared the difference between "cold direction" and "hot direction" of research. He stressed that new youth in the new era should have the ability to study, have lofty ideals, care about the country, overcome difficulties, and the future scientific and technological development of the nation cannot be separated from young people, Young people should be graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Institute who are well educated, well planned and have a mission, and have left a golden sentence that "fantastic ideas are only one step away from wild thoughts".
Professor Hu Xinghao shared with the students how to find problems, cultivate the scientific thinking of "new bottles for old wine", "new bottles for new wine", and "transplant flowers and trees" from the aspects of personal motivation, research orientation, research methods, and paper writing. He adopted appropriate methods to carry out scientific research, encouraged us to break through and innovate under the guidance of our predecessors, maintain a humble attitude toward academia, and actively publish high-level paper results, Read extensively, think actively, and form your own knowledge system from imitation to the end!
Pu Chenwei, a graduate student of Grade 20, combined with his own graduate growth history, gave pertinent suggestions from early research, experimental data to paper submission, and shared practical tools and tips for paper writing that are essential in scientific research life.
Through this activity, we further strengthened the education of scientific ethics and academic norms for the freshmen, and also helped the freshmen to quickly understand the scientific research development of the college, help them set a lofty personal development goal, and make a good personal future scientific research plan.
