2025 iCAN "Golden Vision Cup" AI Visual Inspection Design Challenge National Finals and Interdisciplinary & AI Tech Innovation Application Symposium Opens Successfully at Jiangsu University

On December 6, the 2025 iCAN "Golden Vision Cup" AI Visual Inspection Design Challenge National Finals and the Interdisciplinary & Artificial Intelligence Technology Innovation Application Symposium commenced at the Auditorium of Jiangsu University. The event was organized by the iCAN College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Committee, hosted by the School of Mechanical Engineering at Jiangsu University, and co-organized by Jiangsu University of Science and Technology and Hangzhou Golden Vision Technology Co., Ltd. The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Ren Xudong, Vice President of Jiangsu University; Lu Rongsheng, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Hefei University of Technology, Special Allowance Expert of the State Council, and Chairman of Wuxi Dimension Machine Vision Industry Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd.; Zhong Wei, Vice Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Jiangsu University of Science and Technology; Liu Jie, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office at Jiangsu University; Qian Huan, Product Director of Hangzhou Golden Vision Technology Co., Ltd.; Zheng Xuanbin, General Manager of Hangzhou Golden Vision Technology Co., Ltd.; Xu Zhenying, Vice Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Jiangsu University; Zhang Liming, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Jiangsu University; Liang Yuchen, Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Jiangsu University, Selected Expert under the Ministry of Educations Overseas Talent Recruitment Program, and Distinguished Professor of Jiangsu Province. Also present were faculty and students from universities advancing to the national finals. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Zhongqiang, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Jiangsu University.

Ren Xudong, Vice President of Jiangsu University, delivered the welcome speech. He emphasized that artificial intelligence serves as the core driving force behind the new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation, with AI visual inspection technology demonstrating vast application potential in fields such as intelligent manufacturing, healthcare, and smart transportation. Jiangsu University has consistently adhered to its distinctive educational philosophy of "integrating agriculture into engineering, strengthening agriculture through engineering, and combining industry with agriculture." The university has built a solid foundation in interdisciplinary convergence, particularly in areas combining artificial intelligence with mechanical engineering, agricultural engineering, and other disciplines. Hosting this national competition and symposium reflects the university's commitment to serving the national innovation-driven development strategy, while also serving as a crucial opportunity to advance disciplinary development and nurture innovative talent.

Chief Referee Zhang Haibin then outlined the evaluation procedures and key points for attention. Associate Professor Lu Xiaojun, representing the referees, and student representative Zhu Kongfan, on behalf of the participants, solemnly took their oaths.

During the keynote session, Professor Lu Rongsheng from Hefei University of Technology delivered a presentation titled "Visual Inspection Technology and Equipment Development for Surface Defects." Professor Liang Yuchen from Jiangsu University followed with a report on "Practices and Pathways of Intelligent Manufacturing in the New Industrial System." Subsequently, Qian Huan, Product Director of Hangzhou Golden Vision Technology Co., Ltd., shared insights on "Applications of Virtual Simulation Technology in Embodied Intelligence and Large-Scale Online Training for Machine Vision." The session provided a dynamic platform for young scholars to exchange innovative ideas, significantly advancing academic dialogue and industry collaboration in the field of AI vision, while injecting fresh momentum into the high-quality development of the sector.

Since its establishment in 2007, the iCAN Competition has consistently adhered to the principles of encouraging originality, stimulating innovation, and emphasizing practical application. It is committed to building a comprehensive innovation platform for university students to showcase their talents and realize their aspirations. This national finals, spanning three days, centers on the theme of "AI Visual Inspection Design" and employs the "Machine Vision Integrated Training Platform," utilizing virtual simulation technology to replicate complete visual system workflows. Competing teams will comprehensively demonstrate their innovative achievements in AI visual inspection through project presentations and on-site defense sessions. With participation from universities in over 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions across China, 129 undergraduate teams and 20 vocational college teams have advanced through rigorous selection to compete in the finals.

The 2025 iCAN "Golden Vision Cup" AI Visual Inspection Design Challenge and the Interdisciplinary & Artificial Intelligence Technology Innovation Application Symposium aim to advance the industrialization and integrated application of next-generation AI technologies. They seek to accelerate the development of talent cultivation and innovation systems in the field of new-generation AI within academic institutions, enhance the quality of talent training at the intersection of AI with automation and electronic information, and strengthen students' capabilities in social service, applied research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the event aims to elevate university educators' proficiency in digital and intelligent teaching methodologies.
