The progress seminar on "Laser Additive-Welding Integrated Manufacturing Technology and Equipment for Large Complex Structures" was successfully held at Suzhou CAS Yuchen Laser Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. on November 7 in 2025 in Suzhou,China. The event gathered distinguished representatives and leading experts from a consortium of renowned institutions, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Jiangsu University, Northeastern University, Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, Shenyang Aircraft Design & Research Institute, Institute of Metal Research (Chinese Academy of Sciences), and the host organization, CAS Yuchen. The meeting was chaired by Professor Liang Yuchen from Jiangsu University, who is in charge of Project 2.

Xing Fei, Chairman of Nanjing Zhongke Yuchen Laser Co., Ltd., delivered the opening speech. Professor Yang Zhenwen, Chief Scientist of the project at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, introduced the overall situation of the project. The project leaders reported on the research progress, stage achievements, and follow-up plans in turn.

After the reporting session, the attending expert group conducted in-depth discussions and made individual comments. Professor Lu Jinzhong from Jiangsu University emphasized that the project should highly focus on the innovation points of processes, equipment, and modules, and set expectations for the output of high-level academic achievements that can represent the innovation points of the project. Professor Li Yongbing from Shanghai Jiao Tong University requires the project team to strictly compare various indicators, pay attention to the advance planning of patent papers, strive to achieve breakthroughs in key scientific issues, and emphasize the innovation points of the project. In response to specific issues identified during the seminar, experts have also provided targeted guidance. Chairman Xing Fei has put forward engineering recommendations from an engineering application perspective, including cumulative error control of S-shaped cylindrical components, design of profiling fixtures, and technical details such as welding of dual robotic arms. Professor Sun Zhonggang from Nanjing University of Technology pointed out that each research group should further improve detailed task division and effectively collaborate to promote special work.

The expert group fully affirmed the achievements of the project phase and emphasized the urgency of the follow-up tasks. This special seminar summarized the new progress made by the project, and also pointed out the current difficulties and problems of the project, providing direction for the project team's research and development in the next six months. The project team will take this as an opportunity to accelerate equipment debugging and process breakthroughs, and solidly advance the relevant preparations for mid-term assessment.
