Prof. Lu Jinzhong's Team Paper Selected as One Hundred Outstanding Academic Achievements in Natural Science in Jiangsu Province in 2024

Recently, after the initial recommendation, qualification review, professional review, comprehensive review and other procedures, Prof. Lu Jinzhong's team from Jiangsu University published the SCI highly cited paper “Microstructural evolution and tensile property enhancement of remanufactured Ti6Al4V using hybrid manufacturing of laser directed energy deposition with laser shock peening” in the journal Additive Manufacturing (IF=10.3), which is the most popular paper in the world. tensile property enhancement of remanufactured Ti6Al4V using hybrid manufacturing of laser directed energy deposition with laser shock peening”. Associate Professor Haifei Lu, a young faculty member, is the first author, and Professor Jinzhong Lu and Professor Huiliang Wei of Nanjing University of Science and Technology are the co-corresponding authors. This work was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (51775250) and other grants.

The paper breaks through the thinking of laser impact strengthening as post-processing, and puts forward for the first time in the international arena a new method of aerospace large and complex components laser thermal layer-by-layer interactive deposition manufacturing, around the process, equipment, and other aspects of the authorization of China's invention patents 5, the U.S. invention patents 3; the formation of the laser thermal interactive deposition manufacturing theory and technology, around the theory of the Int. J. Mach. Tool Manuf. The theory has been published in Int. J. Mach. Tool Manuf. and Addit. Manuf. and other international well-known journals and 12 papers including this paper have been published, which is a major theoretical innovation recognized by domestic and foreign peers. The theory and method of laser-thermal interactive deposition manufacturing proposed in the paper have been cited and highly evaluated by academicians and famous scientists in the field of this discipline both at home and abroad. The research findings of the thesis were awarded the First Prize of Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2022 as the main scientific and technological innovation point, and the theoretical results of the thesis were applied and promoted in the head enterprises of aerospace and large-scale hydropower equipment and other industries, which have achieved significant national defense, economic and social benefits, and were awarded the First Prize of the Innovation Achievement Award of the Industry-University-Research Cooperation in China in 2023.

The selection of 100 excellent academic achievement papers in natural sciences in Jiangsu Province is jointly carried out by Jiangsu Provincial Association of Science and Technology, Provincial Department of Education and Provincial Department of Science and Technology, which is aimed at deeply implementing the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition of scientific and technological innovation and his important instructions for the work of Jiangsu Province, accelerating the advancement of basic research, stimulating the innovation vitality of scientific and technological workers, boosting the reform of evaluation of talents and achievements, and accelerating the scientific and technological achievement Transformation. The paper evaluation committee led by the Provincial Association for Science and Technology is composed of renowned academicians and experts in various disciplines in the province and relevant responsible comrades of the organizing unit, which will screen the papers at each level, strictly check the papers and select the best ones.
