Tribology is an interdisciplinary field that studies friction, wear, and lubrication between surfaces in relative motion. It encompasses various disciplines such as mechanics, materials science, chemistry, physics, and mechanics, and holds significant importance for national carbon neutrality strategies, energy conservation and emission reduction, environmental protection, and sustainable economic and social development.
From March 29th to 31st, 2024, four female teachers from the School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Fluid Machinery Engineering Research Center at Jiangsu University participated in the first Tribology Female Scientific and Technological Workers Forum, with the theme "Uniting Female Forces in Tribology, Creating a Bright Future for Science and Technology". The forum was hosted by the Tribology Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and organized by Wenzhou University, with support from institutions including Tsinghua University, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), and the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Over 200 female researchers, industry experts, graduate students, and corporate representatives from the field of tribology across the country attended the forum.
Female scientific and technological talents are a crucial component of the scientific and technological talent pool and a significant force in China's scientific and technological undertakings. In recent years, the team of female tribology researchers in China has gradually expanded, making outstanding contributions in various aspects such as basic theory, applied technology, and engineering practice. The forum aims to strengthen academic exchanges and cooperation among female tribology researchers in China and harness the unique strengths of female researchers in scientific and technological innovation.During the three-day conference, the "tribology women" from Jiangsu University actively engaged in discussions and exchanges with experts and scholars on hot topics in tribology science and technology research. Their participation played a positive role in advancing basic tribology research and emerging field applications.
