Funded by the Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship for Studying Abroad, Dr. Wu Xuelian, a teacher from our school, spent a period of time from February 26, 2017 to February 28, 2018, at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. It ranked 11th in Q18 World University in 2018 and 1st in Asia. As a world-famous university, NTU not only has rich research resources, but also reflects to some extent the new trends of global high-tech development. For example, robot manufacturing, 3D printing, etc. are key research directions for its great investment; Mechanical and Aerospace Academy In addition to the conventional mechanics laboratory, there are well-equipped materials laboratories, chemical laboratories, and biological laboratories, providing a good platform for multidisciplinary research with mechanical engineering as the main body. The research direction of the coordinator Dr. Huang Weimin (an associate professor of life) is the multifunctional preparation, characterization and engineering application of shape memory materials. More than 180 research papers have been published, including International top journals Accounts of Chemicals Research, Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, Materials Today, etc. Two monographs on shape memory materials have been published.
During the visit, Dr. Wu Xuelian and the researchers of the research group worked together and learned from each other. They used the mechanical laboratory and material laboratory of NTU Institute of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering to conduct research on shape memory polymer materials, including intrinsically conductive shape memory polymers. The relationship between characterization, surface crack morphology and the distribution of internal stress of the shape memory polymer; the control of the deformation rate to enable the formation of controlled color patterns of the polymer; etc.; these work expanded the field of research, has achieved some innovative results.
During the one-year study of visiting scholarship, lectures by experts and scholars from various fields were exhaustive. Through listening to the wonderful reports of scholars, they constantly updated their original knowledge fields, broadened their horizons of science and technology, and increased their experience. During the visit, he also learned more about the NTU's teaching management and teacher's teaching mode by listening to some professional courses.
After returning home, they will use research methods, advanced technologies, and management methods learned abroad to use scientific research, disciplines, and professional construction, strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, and contribute to the internationalization of schools and schools and the development of disciplines.
