Co-supported by the Jiangsu government scholarship of studying abroad and Jiangsu University, Dr. YANG Zhi-xian, a staff of the School of Mechanical Engineering, studied in the University of Queensland in Australia as a visiting scholar from 12th September, 2014 to 8th September, 2015, and returned to the Jiangsu University at 9th September, 2015. The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australia’s leading research and teaching institutions, which is ranked well inside the world's top 100 universities (of more than 10,000). UQ is one of only three Australian members of the global Universitas 21, a founding member of the Group of Eight (Go8) universities. The Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) is an integrated multi-disciplinary research institute bringing together the skills of world-class researchers in the areas of bioengineering and nanotechnology. It is home to 18 research groups working at the interface of the biological, chemical and physical science to alleviate current problems in human health and environmental issues.
During the time of visiting and studying at AIBN in UQ, Dr. YANG Zhi-xian carried out his researches on the synthesis and the performance of a new Nano-functional material by cooperated with a distinguished Professor Michael YU and YU’s group. By accomplishing a one-year studying and project research, Dr. YANG has established a friendly cooperative relationship with Professor YU and YU’s group, which will lay a solid foundation for the further cooperation of project research. Besides, Dr. YANG had completed his project researches as expected and obtained some academy’s profits.
Through a one-year studying experience, Dr. YANG acquired a deep insight and an intuitive understanding on the mode of scientific research, methods of cultivating graduate students, characteristics of undergraduate course teaching, etc. Dr. YANG would apply these new research methods, advanced technologies and management methods to the building of research, courses and majors, and do his best to strengthen the international communication and cooperation, and meanwhile contribute to the development of the School of Mechanical Engineering and Jiangsu University.
