Topic: Design, optimization and evaluation of mechanical properties of advanced composites
Speaker: Zhang Chao
Time: May 19, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Location: School of Mechanical Engineering, 7th floor lecture hall
Speaker introduction: Dr. Zhang Chao, an lecturer in School of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Mechanical Design Engineering at Jiangsu University. He received his B.En. and Ph.D. degree in Aircraft Design and Engineering Mechanics from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), Nanjing, China, in 2008 and 2013, respectively. His research interest is in the field of structural mechanics of advanced composites, in particular, on subjects of micromechanics, modeling damage and failure in recent years.
Lecture content: Fiber-reinforced polymer-matrix composites are being extensively studied and widely used in aerospace, automobile, marine, machinery, sports and other industries because of their high performance-weight ratio. This lecture will introduce the recent development of modeling techniques in design, optimization and analysis of advanced composites to the overseas undergraduate students. It is helpful for them to understand the current research situation and the development trends in the field of structural mechanics of advanced composites.
