Introduction about Yunpeng Ren: Dr. Ren, graduated from University of Missouri-Columbia, core member of “Shuangchuang Team” of Jiangsu province (2015), outstanding doctor of “Lvyang Jinfeng Project” of Yangzhou city. Dr. Ren was an assessment experts of Energy Assessment Center subjected to Department of Energy (USA). Dr. Ren has published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers. He is now the reviewer of ‘Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer’, ‘Advances in Mechanical Engineering’. Dr. Ren is now taking a project founded by NSFC. Dr. Ren’s research interests include precise processing of ultrafast lasers, simulation of 3D printing (SLM), laser shock peening, and inverse heat transfer.
Main contents of presentation: 3D printing has been experienced a rapid development in recent years. It is now becoming an important complementary part of the mass manufacturing in 21 century. This presentation will introduce the history and basic principles of 3D printing. The applications of 3D printing in aerospace, medicine, architecture, automobile industry, etc., will be introduced. The problems and future development of 3D printing will also be discussed.
