On May 30th, at the invitation of the School of Mechanical Engineering of our school, Prof. Zhu Xiangyang of the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University gave an academic lecture entitled “Rebuilding Techniques of Smart Prostheses and Neural Information Channels” on the 7th floor of the School of Mechanical Engineering. report. The report was chaired by Prof. Ren Xudong, Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, and more than one hundred teachers and students participated in the report meeting.

Prof. Zhu Xiangyang gave detailed introduction to his laboratory's research on smart prostheses and related neural information channel reconstruction and other related technologies. Prof. Zhu opened the subject with the advancement of medical and rehabilitation technology from cyber technology and showed us the mystery of the dexterous prosthetics. At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Zhu first introduced the three major scientific and technological issues facing the world of dexterous artificial limbs. One is the reconstruction of motor functions, the second is the reconstruction of neural information channels, and the third is the reconstruction of natural sensory functions. Later, it introduced the dexterous prosthesis as the technical carrier of the biomechanical integration system, and it has gone through three stages since 1600. Among them, a method for designing a dexterous prosthetic mechanism is highlighted: the underactuated mechanism based on the joint-joint model; and the breakthroughs that their team made in the reconstruction of neural information channels: First, the time-domain, frequency-domain, and air-space filter combination optimization techniques. The second is the inverse solution of the action potential sequence of the motor unit. The technique of electrostimulation of phantom limbs related to the reconstruction of sensory functions has also been introduced. Due to the limitations of technology, further research is needed. At the end of the lecture, we briefly introduced the application of related technologies and discussed the future development trends. We shared the valuable experience of our own scientific research with our teachers and students and benefited everyone.
